Background

Portfolio has an agreement with the 2010 FIFA World Cup Organising Committee South Africa (LOC) to produce a Souvenir Publication on the legacy of the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™. The objective of this once-in-a-life time publication is to position the legacy of the 2010 event in a holistic, enduring and globally renowned manner inspired by our “Ubuntu” philosophy. The publication carries the official endorsement of the Department of Sports & Recreation which is the mandated Government Department on the 2010 FIFA World Cup event. The publication is funded through sponsorships and adverts.

About the Publication

Has the country’s investment in the staging of the FIFA 2010 World Cup South Africa TM made our leaders’ wishes and those of the ordinary citizens come true by creating a long-lasting legacy!  More importantly, what is the legacy of the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa TM and the real sustainable benefits thereof? It is precisely this critical question which this publication on the legacy of the 2010 event aims to answer. The publication will showcase the developmental programmes and benefits of the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa TM to the country’s citizens and their African counterparts. For this purpose, the legacy projects have been grouped into different themes ranging from the legacy of arts & culture, communication, transport to the legacy created at provincial and host cities levels.    

The publication will have a print order of 40 000 copies for distribution to the leadership in both the public and private sectors, investment community, foreign embassies in South Africa, and RSA  missions abroad. Additionally, 1 000 personalised  leather-bound copies will be produced for the National Ministers; Premiers; MEC’s; Directors Generals; leadership of  LOC, SAFA, CAF and FIFA, their Affiliates and Commercial Partners; Heads of State of the Participating Countries; Special Groups; Sponsors and Advertisers

Similarly to all other PORTFOLIO publications, THE 2010 FIFA WORLD CUP LEGACY PUBLICATION will carry a directory of useful contacts associated with the event. They will include those within the host cities and provinces as well as those of South Africa itself, the SADDC Region and the entire African Continent.
